Australia’s Pete Jacobs won the Ironman world championship Saturday, beating Germany’s Andreas Raelert by more than 4 minutes.

Sabatschus proves he is the hot shot

Olaf Sabatschus of Germany won yesterday's inaugural Ironman China on Hainan Island in a time of eight hours, 52 minutes and 14 seconds. The race - a 3.8km sea swim, 100km bike ride and 42km run - was staged in hot conditions but, despite the bad weather that loomed in the days before, organisers said the race went according to plan.

Bozarth prospers in Oz

HONG KONG junior Don Bozarth finished ninth overall in the junior competition in the World Cup triathlon held on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Bozarth finished the gruelling event in three hours, 29 minutes and 20 seconds, well behind Ricardo Da Costa's winning time of 3:07.46, but it was Bozarth's best result in an international event.

Terry hopes for turn of fortune

AMERICAN Terry Schneider will be looking make amends for last year's disappointment by winning the international women's short course triathlon at the Hong Kong Sports Institute today.

Schneider led last year's race until she took a wrong turn during the closing stages of the run and eventually had to settle for second place behind Hong Kong's Ruth Hunt.
