Italy high on skill, low on sportsmanship

Amid the World Cup celebrations I've been forced to realise that the Italian football team are high on skill but low on sportsmanship. Italy have very talented players but it is a shame they have to resort to cheating, such as diving in the penalty area on several occasions (eg: the Italy v US match) and underhanded tactics such as the shameful goading of Zidane by Materazzi.

Italians hope to avoid riot, act II

I WAS once involved in a football riot, or battle as they were then described, long before they became the unfashionable, lager-fuelled affairs so beloved of certain travelling English fans.

To be fair to the English, however, the same current charge can be laid against the Dutch and, to a slightly lesser extent, the Germans.
