Cheung a winner in Olympic poll

Eight local entertainers - Lisa Wang Ming-chuen, Andy Lau Tak-wah, Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Leo Ku Kui-kei, Stephen Chan Chi-wan, Eason Chan Yik-shun, Kelly Chen Wai-lam and Alex Fong Lik-sun - participated in the Hong Kong leg of the Olympic torch relay yesterday, but they aren't necessarily the stars that children wanted to see.

Rain fails to dampen memories of 'Gor Gor'

The rain and chilly weather failed to deter fans of Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing who gathered in Central and outside the Cultural Centre yesterday to remember the Canto-pop star who died five years ago.

Fans from around the world laid flowers on a section of Ice House Street outside the Mandarin Oriental hotel, from which Cheung jumped to his death on April 1, 2003.

Chan still on song

Many singers celebrate the number of years they've been performing, but pop veteran Elisa Chan Kit-ling rejoices in the fact that she can still belt out a tune.

'I treasure every opportunity to perform. Perhaps I can sing today, but I don't know if I still can in 10,

Leslie Cheung's spirit burning brightly five years after his death

Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing has been dead for five years but the love from friends and fans is still alive as thousands - including more than 1,000 from overseas - are expected to join a series of anniversary events starting on Saturday.

The singer-actor jumped off the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Central on April 1, 2003.
