Jansher in top gear

WORLD squash champion Jansher Khan looked well prepared for next month's attempt on a title record when he breezed into the quarter-finals of the US Open at Providence, Rhode Island.

Jansher, who will better namesake compatriot Jahangir Khan's achievement if he wins a seventh World Open in Cyprus in three weeks time, beat former England captain Phil Whitlock 15-7, 15-5, 15-8.

Family has vital role

HAVING a family and being on the circuit do not usually mix but I'm lucky to have a very supportive and understanding wife, who gives me encouragement all the time.

Sometimes when I don't feel like training, she reminds me that I have to do it because only hard work can help me remain the world number one.

Recognition factor lagging well behind

SQUASH does not get enough recognition and we should start doing something about it. The top tennis players are known everywhere in the world, people know their names and faces. Although I am the world number one and six-time world champion, I am only recognised in Pakistan. Nobody knows me when I walk in the street elsewhere.
