Fujita to reduce land price at Shanghai industrial park

Japanese construction and property firm Fujita Corp says it will reduce the price of land at its Jinqiao Fujita Industrial Park in Shanghai's Pudong in an attempt to lure more Japanese and European firms to set up manufacturing bases in the area.

The price-cut move came after the company failed to attract as many international industrial corporations as initially expected.

Work starts soon on $8.9b circuit plant in Shanghai

The Chinese Government's 9.6 billion yuan (about HK$8.93 billion) integrated circuits plant in Shanghai will begin partial production in 1998.

Work on the Huahong Micro-Electronics Co, a Ministry of Electronics Industry project, was to begin in the second half of this year and production would be in full swing in three years.

Good news provides sparkle for B shares

SHANGHAI'S market for B shares was brought to life yesterday by a profit announcement by Jinqiao Export Processing Zone Development, and Dazhong Taxi's plan to convert its legal-person shares into B shares.

The Credit Lyonnais Shanghai B index gained 31.08 points, or 3.36 per cent, to close yesterday at 945.66, with a total of 17.2 million B shares changing hands.

Jinqiao listing stands out among recent issues
