Holidaymakers left stranded by blizzards

A technical fault strands others in cable cars for 20 hours

Rare blizzard conditions caused travel misery for about 4,000 'golden week' holidaymakers at a leading tourism site in Sichuan province, while in Hebei, 86 tourists were suspended in cable cars for 20 hours because of a technical fault.

Tourists to get police escorts after fatal bus crash

Hong Kong tourists travelling in Sichuan are to gain police escorts to restore public confidence in the wake of a bus crash nine days ago that killed three people and left nine missing, presumed dead.

Two-thirds of the local police force are also to be assigned to road patrols in an attempt to crack down on dangerous driving and to try to lower accident rates.
