One unlucky sport set to be axed from Olympics

The executive board of the International Olympic Committee is set to vote to have a sport removed from the 2020 Summer Games.

While the summer Olympics will certainly be the time for elite athletes to show their talents to the world, some older champions are looking for new challenges in life.

'Although my world ranking is still in the 30s, I need to move on from my current life sooner or later,' said Hong Kong's Olympic silver medallist Ko Lai-chak.

The final day of the 2011 Hong Kong Karatedo Youth Games took place at Kowloon Park Sports Centre on Sunday. The top junior karate athletes competed for titles for their clubs, but some members of the Hong Kong team had another mission.

Achievements Samantha, 15, is a rising star of the Hong Kong junior karatedo team. She won the gold medal in the girls' senior kata (age 14-15) at the Hong Kong Karatedo Youth Games last year. Kata is a formalised sequence of moves.

From Karate Kid to games guru

When the karate competition of the games takes place at the IPM Multisport Pavilion, Manuel Silverio will feel particularly proud. Karate was Silverio's sport in his youth, and he represented Macau in three world championships organised by the World Karate Federation: in Tokyo (1977), Madrid (1980) and Taipei (1982).

Variety show makes a splash at anniversary

A series of events were held to mark HKCWC Fung Yiu King Memorial Secondary School's 10th anniversary.

I was very happy because I could take part in many of the events. The one I enjoyed most was the variety show.

A TUEN MUN karate instructor was arrested on Friday for raping a 14-year-old student. According to a report in Apple Daily, Mr Chan, 42, promised to show her the secret way to becoming a karate master. On October 24, he took her back to his flat and began to massage her while removing her clothes.
