There are many varieties of mint but supermarkets usually only offer spearmint and peppermint. When buying the herb, look for bright green leaves with no dark spots.

Derby night good run for the money

The second annual Camp Quality ball was held at the Regent Hotel this year with a horsey theme called 'The Run for the Roses', based on the Kentucky Derby. The ballroom was decorated to resemble the famed Churchill Downs racecourse with murals depicting scenes from the Kentucky Derby. The horse-racing fraternity turned up in full force.

Odds shorten on Holland linking with Lane stable

BRILLIANT young English jockey Darryll Holland is favourite to sign as Geoff Lane's stable rider within the next 24 hours.

There are still a few contractual details to sort out but Holland yesterday briefed his retaining trainer in England, Mark Johnston, about a possible link-up with Lane.
