Fine China

Kenzo Takada may have 'retired' years ago from fashion but the past two years have seen him re-establish his reputation as a designer, this time of homeware. New from the founder of Kenzo is the Tao Garden tableware collection (above), inspired by Chinese flowers and motifs. Two sets of cups and saucers cost HK$1,580, a pair of plates is priced at HK$980 and the tea pot is HK$2,380.

Kenzo's maverick designer sizes up the city

His designs and shows completely blow us away, but the creative genius behind fashion brand Kenzo says Hong Kong is what impresses him. Swanky night of nights

One of Hong Kong's most exclusive stores, the Swank, was at the centre of the social whirl recently, when it hosted two star-studded fashion events.

First was the launch of the new Swank corporate logo, which coincided with the autumn/winter 2004 show at the Hong Kong Design Centre in Admiralty.

Kenzo sets the style for glittering Guides dinner

FLASHBULBS went off as the glitterati sparkled at the gala dinner hosted by Swank Shop boss David Hong in the Regent ballroom. The stylish event - with a Kenzo catwalk presentation as the showpiece - was in aid of the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association.

First name in fashion design

THE good thing about meeting Kenzo is that one can ditch the formalities and get on first-name terms with him right away.

Only immigration officers at airports, it seems, address the acclaimed fashion designer as Mr Takada, his little-known family name.

Not that Kenzo himself is one for ceremony.
