Shea's HK stint pays off

Kevin Shea didn't have the best of stints as a club jockey in Hong Kong this season but was quick to acknowledge yesterday the role his time at Sha Tin had played in yesterday's QEII Cup win on Archipenko.

Shea heading to Dubai

South African jockey Kevin Shea has asked for a release from his contract after securing the job as stable rider for Mike de Kock in Dubai.

The going has been tough this season for Shea, 44 (pictured), despite support from Tony Millard, for whom he rode his fourth winner on Taiji Spirit last Saturday.

Jockey Club clears Shea of doping

A urine sample taken from jockey Kevin Shea 10 days ago returned a positive to Midazolam, a prohibited substance under the rules of racing, but a quickly convened inquiry chose to take no action against the South African. Midazolam, or metabolite alpha-hydroxy-midazolam, was identified in Shea's sample, collected at the November 11 meeting.
