Thailand’s King Rama X is the 10th in a dynasty that dates back to 1782, following in the footsteps of his revered father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in October 2016 at age 88. Rama X – his formal title is “His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarankun”  – had been the heir apparent since 1972.
