The fire department has set up a special task force to investigate a fire on Wednesday night in a 47-year-old commercial-residential block in King's Road, Quarry Bay.

Level-four blaze breaks out in Quarry Bay, 8 injured

Firemen arrive at the scene to tackle the level-four alarm fire, which broke out at Chung Hing Mansion, Pan Hoi Street in Quarry Bay.

Scores of firemen were early today struggling to contain a serious fire in a residential building in Quarry Bay, which left at least eight people injured.

All of the injured were sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment.

Wife of slain expatriate released on bail

Police have released the wife of an expatriate man whose badly beaten and bloody body was found in their flat in North Point 10 days ago.

The 38-year-old woman, named Eliza, who was arrested last Saturday, was released on bail.

Mobile phone shop burgled

About 200 mobile phones and 50 SIM cards worth HK$370,000, as well as HK$30,000 in cash, were stolen from a mobile phone shop in King's Road, North Point, yesterday. Police were called to the store at about 11am when a female employee arrived for work and found the security guard's padlock damaged.

Promenade plan to open eastern harbourfront

Walkway proposed from Causeway Bay to North Point

A boardwalk under the Island Eastern Corridor is among ideas to be included in a study on revitalising disjointed waterfront sites from Causeway Bay to Lei Yue Mun.

The Planning Department will commission a 20-month study this year and seek ideas from the public.

Kerry to build office tower at Quarry Bay site

Kerry Properties has bought the headquarters of Hong Kong Tobacco in Quarry Bay for $718.9 million.

The developer plans to rebuild the industrial building into an office tower at a cost of at least $2.7 billion.

According to the Land Registry, Kerry Properties bought the building at 865 King's Road on an accommodation value of $1,307 per square foot on 13 March.

Gold robbers strike again at notorious Fortress Hill bus stop

It looks like an ordinary bus stop, on Route 106 from Wong Tai Sin to Siu Sai Wan, but it's the place where gold and jewellery worth more than $1.7 million has been stolen in less than a year.

Robbers struck yesterday for the third time in 11 months at the stop in Fortress Hill, on King's Road outside the Sing Pao Building.
