Woman surrenders to police

A 61-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after surrendering to police over a chopper that fell from a flat on Pak Tin Estate, Shek Kip Mei, on Monday. The woman, surnamed Wang, went to Shek Kip Mei police station at about 8am and said she had accidentally dropped the chopper from her flat, a police spokesman said. She was being held for questioning last night.

Another chopper falls at troubled estate

Police were last night investigating whether a chopper found on the ground at Shek Kip Mei's Pak Tin Estate, scene of a spate of objects being thrown or falling from height, fell or was thrown. A resident from Cheung Tin House called police at 7.30pm when he saw the chopper after hearing something hit the ground. No one was injured.

32 more old estates to be targeted in authority's inspection programme

The Housing Authority has plans to expand the comprehensive structural investigation programme to cover 32 more old estates after the current exercise is completed this year.

Oi Man in Ho Man Tin, completed in 1974; Shek Kip Mei, completed in 1976; and Nam Shan in Sham Shui Po, completed in 1977 are among the 32 estates on the list to be inspected.

Hunt on for Shek Kip Mei hit-and-run cyclist

A hit-and-run cyclist who knocked down and killed an elderly man is being sought by the police.

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was riding downhill on Tai Hang Sai Street, Shek Kip Mei, when he knocked down 80-year-old Ng Chou at the Tai Hang Tung Road junction on March 22.The cyclist rode off without stopping and did not report the accident.

Man arrested after allegedly stabbing father at home

A man was arrested after he allegedly attacked his father with a knife in their Shek Kip Mei home.

Police said the man, 39, stabbed his father, 64, with a knife after being told off for slamming a door. The father, who sustained a knife wound to his left hand, was taken to Caritas Medical Centre.
