Strange fruit

The kiwi's rough, fuzzy brown skin covers a colourful interior. The most common is green, although some varieties are a pretty golden yellow. A cross section of the fruit shows an attractive sunburst pattern dotted with small, delicately crunchy black seeds.

Actress eager to experience charms of New Zealand

Although she's never visited the place, actress Louisa So Yuk-wah is developing quite an affinity with New Zealand. Earlier in the year she took part in a cooking demonstration at the New Zealand Focus shop in Causeway Bay, opened by the NZ government to promote all things kiwi. And last Thursday she helped the shop celebrate its second anniversary.

Sign in Chinese, a first for NZ, pays tribute to migrant community

Perhaps it is a sign of Beijing's rising influence. A public street in New Zealand has been given a Chinese name for the first time in the land of the kiwi.

The New Zealand Herald reported that a street on the Kapiti coast carries a bilingual street sign in Chinese and English.
