Few parents are ever completely satisfied with their children. When my children were born extremely premature, all I wanted was for them to come home in good health. When they came home in good health, I wished for them to be more outgoing in new environments. When they started to speak English words, I wished for them to learn more Chinese words. And on it goes.

Ocean Park to get 8, not 2, koalas

Ocean Park will receive eight koalas as a gift from the state government of South Australia, instead of the two it had originally expected.

State premier Mike Rann said yesterday the koalas would arrive in 2014, after feed became available from a eucalyptus plantation being established on the mainland.

Koala pair coming to roost at Ocean Park

Ocean Park will receive two new additions to its animal kingdom - a pair of young koalas from South Australia.

The Australian icons will be flown to Hong Kong within the next two years, as a gift by the South Australian state government. But the arrival dates have not been fixed yet.

The inhabitants of an island off the coast of Australia have hit back at a Taiwanese television report that branded them cold-blooded killers of koala bears.

The Taiwan-based ETTV station labelled Kangaroo Island, off the coast of South Australia, a 'killing ground' where farmers indiscriminately shot koalas.
