Kobe Bryant declared his season over after scoring 34 points before leaving the game with a likely torn Achilles tendon, as the Los Angeles Lakers kept their play-off hopes alive with a 118-116 win over Golden State.

Bryant tried to tie the game on a baseline jumper in the final seconds when he collided with Dahntay Jones and came down on his foot. The 15-time NBA all-star Bryant missed the shot and dropped to the court in pain. He eventually got up and walked off under his own power.

The Los Angeles Lakers player ended his holdout and set up an account on the social media network on Friday, tweeting: “The antisocial has become social.”

Phil Jackson has accused the Los Angeles Lakers of "slimy" negotiations in their search to fill the head coaching position left vacant by the firing of Mike Brown.

Jackson said he met Lakers' brass for 1-1/2 hours at his home last Saturday and was then woken by a phone call at midnight on Sunday to tell him that Mike D'Antoni had been given the job instead.
