Adult expo chief blasts HK 'double standards'

Organisers of the Asia Adult Expo have accused the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) of double standards.

They claim it will allow under-18s to attend events at which pseudo models appear, but turns up its nose at the adult expo, which allows in only people over 18.

Ani-Com fever grips city

More than 100 people were queuing up outside the Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong venue a day before its opening. One of them had been waiting outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai since last Wednesday.

The five-star hotel is revamping its guest rooms, two floors of which are now available for bookings. The new suites borrow from a minimalist palette of whites, blondes and dark oak to create a serene but savvy urban sanctuary. Bulky carpets and curtains are replaced with eco-friendly faux-wood flooring and subtle, but equally effective, blinds.

Party dissidents fail in their attempt to unseat league chairman

An attempt by party dissidents to unseat the League of Social Democrats' chairman Andrew To Kwan-hang and the executive committee failed last night.

The motion was defeated, 170-111, with 10 abstentions.

Stars dazzle in designer creations

Fashion mavens were out in force for the Marc Jacobs spring/summer show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre last month.

Several prominent stars donned some of the designer's more extravagant creations, catching the eye of photographers. In total, 50 new outfits were showcased.

Comics festival popular with HK youngsters

Updated at 2.15pm: More than 500 youngsters queued from before dawn on Friday outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for the opening of the Comics Festival and Game Fair.

The annual event began on Friday at 11am and would end on August 1.

Local fashion designer Joseph Li displayed his first collection of womenswear and menswear with a recent show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre called Back/Forth.

Although the style-maker is new to the industry, a packed house featuring some of the city's influential fashion identities enjoyed the event last month.

British star set to jazz it up

Here's a notable gig coming. English pop/jazz maverick Jamie Cullum has just been confirmed to play at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on April 2.

Since its release, the 26-year-old's Twentysomething CD has become the fastest selling jazz album in British history. Tickets go on sale shortly at HK Ticketing at $388, $688, $988 and, for VIP seats, $1,388.

Anticipation was high for Gucci's new autumn/winter collection - as reflected in the large turnout for the show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
