Industrial rents forecast to sink

Rents for all forms of industrial space, including industrial-office (I/O), are expected to fall by up to 13 per cent this year as 5.43 million square feet of new space comes on the market, says a survey by Colliers Jardine.

Residents living around Kwai Chung Playground, in Hing Fong Road, had to endure the unbearable noise caused by a concert rehearsal late on the night of November 29.

At 11.30pm, artistes were rehearsing for an anti-drug carnival and they were so loud that we could not sleep.

Mainlanders dished

Three mainland men, aged between 27 and 47, were arrested in Wing Fong Road, Kwai Chung, after trying to sell devices they claimed were satellite TV receivers to two plain-clothes officers, police said. Three men are to appear in Tsuen Wan Court this morning.

Burglary spree alleged

Three men will appear in Tsuen Wan Court today in connection with 21 burglaries. The trio, aged between 18 and 23, are accused of stealing cash, electronic dictionaries, cameras and audiovisual equipment from schools, community halls and clinics in Tsing Yi, Kwai Chung and Tsuen Wan.

Car park plan

TSING YI residents have criticised a government proposal to turn the Container Terminal 9 site into a temporary car park for 1,200 container trucks. The residents say they fear it will overload the traffic system of the island. Kwai Tsing District Board will discuss the matter on Thursday.

Housing study requested

THE Planning Department has commissioned a consultancy firm to undertake a comprehensive study of the redevelopment potential of the metropolitan areas of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Kowloon and Tsuen Wan-Kwai Tsing.

It will be asked to assess the redevelopment potential of the areas for residential use and estimate how many flats are likely to be built.
