Tourist, 57, dies after collapsing

An Australian tourist died after collapsing in the street outside Laguna Verde in Hung Hom early yesterday. The 57-year-old man was walking with two male friends along Laguna Verde Avenue outside Block 15 of the private housing estate when he collapsed at about 6.55am. A security guard called police. The man was unconscious when he was carried into an ambulance, police said.

Kerry begins selling Jupiter Terrace development

Kerry Properties is releasing eight units at its North Point, Jupiter Terrace residential development, for public sale at HK$2,988 per square foot.

Kerry Real Estate Agency senior marketing manager Semy Ng expected a sell-out of the 188-unit project and that its 27,000 sq ft of retail space would generate proceeds of HK$560 million.

Leasing lures cast for Laguna units

Cheung Kong (Holdings) is kicking off its aggressive leasing campaign by giving away a HK$304,000 Mercedes-Benz sedan to three-year term tenants of its Laguna Verde apartments in Hunghom.

However, property agents said the effective rent charged by Cheung Kong was still slightly higher than the secondary market, despite the various sweeteners given to tenants.

Discounts ease Hunghom buys

Cheung Kong (Holdings) is increasing price-discount offers to buyers of its phase-five Laguna Verde flats in Hunghom.

Under a new mortgage subsidy scheme, the developer will be responsible for up to 24 months of buyers instalments on a 70 per cent mortgage. It means they can effectively save up to 9 per cent of the property price.

Offer aims to lure Laguna upgraders

Cheung Kong (Holdings) has introduced a special package to encourage its Laguna Verde phase-four homeowners to trade in their units and buy larger flats in the Hunghom project.

Analysts believed the scheme aimed to create another source of buying power for larger flats which were more difficult to sell during a sluggish market.

Laguna delayed

Completion of the last phase of Cheung Kong (Holdings) and CLP Holdings' Laguna Verde joint venture in Hunghom is to be delayed by a year to 2001.

Analysts said the delay could result in slower earnings growth for the two companies in 2000.

The expected postponement was disclosed in a document presented by CLP at a recent analysts' meeting.

Cheung Kong will release another 10 flats at Laguna Verde

Cheung Kong will release another 120 flats at Laguna Verde in Hunghom and lift prices 2.5 per cent.

The latest release will be priced at about $4,497 per square foot for cash compared with $4,388 per square foot for the first batch of 96 flats in the project's phase two.

Registration will end today and the official sale will begin on Saturday.
