Minibus driver jailed for killing pedestrian

A minibus driver who hit and killed a woman on a pedestrian crossing was jailed for 21/2 years. Lai Kwok-chuen, 67, who had been a driver for 40 years and had been voted the best minibus driver one year, was also banned from driving for five years.

Two held as police swoop on suspected smugglers

Marine Police seized more than $1 million worth of smuggled goods from a boat off East Ping Chau in Mirs Bay at 11.30pm on Saturday. The goods included computer hard disks, projectors, LCD displays, printer ink cartridges, rolls of leather and 17 boxes of an unknown white powder. Two men on the boat were arrested.
