Man, 72, kills wife then takes own life

A retired man stabbed his wife to death then ended his own by jumping into a Tai Po river yesterday.

At about 2.30 am Tsang Shek, 72, rang his 35-year-old son to say he had murdered Ng Yuk-tei, 60.

Ng's body was found in the ground-floor living room of the couple's two-storey stone hut in Kam Shan village. A blood-stained fruit knife was found on a table.

River tragedy

A WOMAN drowned after falling into the Lam Tsuen River in Tai Po early yesterday. Police were told the woman, in her 40s, had fallen accidentally into the river outside Kwong Fuk Estate at 6.30 am. She was certified dead on arrival at the Tai Po Jockey Club Clinic.
