Man acquitted of molesting girl, 14

A married, senior Education Bureau officer was acquitted yesterday of molesting a 14-year-old girl whom he met in an internet chat room, but he is involved in another investigation of a child pornography case, a court heard.

Identity card leads to arrest

An identity card found at the scene of an alleged theft in Aberdeen led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man in Sham Shui Po yesterday. Police suspect the man is the same one who allegedly tied up a woman and her mother after breaking into their flat at 2.30am. The younger woman said she was robbed of several thousand dollars.

Jail term for drunken assault on 4-year-old

A man who slammed his four-year-old son into a wall during a drunken outburst that left the child with a dislocated jaw and other injuries was jailed for 21 months yesterday.

Deputy District Court Judge William Lam Kui-po convicted the 38-year-old, whose identity cannot be disclosed, on a charge of wilful assault.

A 58-year-old woman was arrested last night for allegedly stabbing her 84-year-old mother-in-law to death at their home in Kennedy Town. The victim was found by her 64-year-old son, identified only by his surname, Yeung, when he returned at about 7.30pm.

Husband charged over ex-wife's murder

Police yesterday charged a man, 36, with the murder of his ex-wife in Tsing Yi. The woman was found dead on Saturday in a unit in On Yun House, Cheung On Estate. A post-mortem examination found that the woman had been strangled. The man will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates Court today.

A man has denied trying to blackmail a businessman for $10 million after allegedly arranging sexual services for him with his 'underage' girlfriend. The Court of First Instance heard Wong Chun-kit, 28, arranged for a man known only as Mr X to meet a girl in Mongkok on January 22 last year. A sexual act allegedly took place, after which the girl kept a sample of his semen on tissue paper.

Two detectives were slightly hurt while chasing a suspected rapist in Shekkipmei last night. The suspect, who police said was responsible for two rapes last week on a hillside in Leong Cheung Road, managed to escape.

Eight arrested after body of kidnapped girl washes ashore

Eight people were arrested yesterday for the kidnap and murder of an 11-year-old girl whose body was found floating off a beach at Ap Lei Chau.

One of those arrested was a relative of the victim's family, according to a police source. The source said the man lured the girl from her Tai Po home on Friday afternoon on the pretext of taking her to Ocean Park.

Girl finds bodies after suicide father kills 3 with hammer

A 13-year-old girl returned from school yesterday to find her mother, brother and another woman dead in the family's blood-stained flat. Her father, who had killed the trio with a hammer, was with the bodies.

The girl spent an hour trying to persuade her father to surrender before she called police. When officers arrived, he jumped six floors to his death.
