Man drowns at Lido Beach

An elderly swimmer drowned at Lido Beach in Tsuen Wan yesterday morning.

Cheuk Shing, 75, was found floating about 30 metres off the beach just after 7am. A Marine Police launch and a fireboat were despatched after a caller to 999 alerted them. The unconscious man was taken to Yan Chai Hospital where he was declared dead.

His belongings were found on the beach.

Swimmer, 75, drowns at lido beach

A 75-year-old man drowned while swimming at Lido Beach, Tsuen Wan, before dawn. He was found floating five metres from the shore and pulled from the water by a fellow swimmer, a 72-year-old woman. He was certified dead at Yan Chai Hospital.

Early pool closure was unavoidable
