Shorts are as much a certainty in spring and summer as death and taxes are in life. But that's not to say that you can simply recycle last spring's shorts for this season. Fashion wouldn't be a business if designers and labels didn't ignite a desire to run to the nearest store to buy 'the new shorts' - even if you already have piles of similar looking items in your closet.

Champion of the style mash-up

Anyone would assume that a person who makes a living designing shoes would have a killer shoe closet. Floor-to-ceiling shelves of shoes, some sort of temple to the god of footwear. Plaid lends itself to a broad range of styles: there are Irish and Scottish tartans and the Catholic school uniform. At its most fashionable, plaid was the banner of the grunge trend.
