Lingnan head upset by negative labelling

Lingnan University's outgoing head, Edward Chen Kwan-yiu, says the labelling of the university as inferior by secondary school educators continues to upset him. Speaking at a farewell gathering yesterday, Professor Chen said he was proud of his role in nurturing 'most probably the happiest university students in Hong Kong'.

Bard's play puts actors to the test

Two students from Lingnan University won the best actor awards at this year's Shakespeare Festival.

The annual drama competition, held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong last month, attracted participants from 32 tertiary institutes in China, Macau and Hong Kong.

Lingnan was the only Hong Kong university to win a prize.

Good Book 'more likely to corrupt than survey'

A University of Hong Kong academic has lodged a complaint against Chinese University library for distributing 'indecent and obscene material' to students in that it carries copies of the Bible 'without suitable wrapping or warning'.

I had a lot of sympathy last week for everyone involved in the process of finding a new president for City University. There were two shortlisted candidates, both popular with the university council, but neither managed to attract the three-quarters support needed. This came after students and faculty complained about being left out of the exercise.
