US President Barack Obama on Monday praised government agencies which he led to meet the threat from Hurricane Isaac, after touring “enormous devastation” in Louisiana.

Early-morning angst

After calling 1081 on Thursday at around 7am and going through the Herculean task of simply trying to find out what number in Hong Kong to call to obtain the phone number of a company in Los Angeles, I managed to finally get through to the operator (all the lines were busy), but not before pressing the multiple choice keys and listening to a whole heap of instructions.
