Charity Auction By Dermot Reeve OBE

The ex-England and Warwickshire cricketer will be in town to host an auction of signed memorabilia from his own collection, with the proceeds to be donated to local children's charities. Among the items is a cap signed by the Ashes-winning 1997 Australian cricket team, a Manchester United shirt worn by Eric Cantona, as well as records signed by John Lennon and Jim Morrison.

Four held in anti-vice raid

Police arrested three female mainland visitors and a Thai woman in an anti-vice operation in Wan Chai. Police said the four, aged 26 to 46, were rounded up in bars in Jaffe Road and Luard Road.

Breaking the essay barrier

Students will team up with professional actors and acrobats early next year for Breaking Barriers, a multi-media performance combining education and entertainment. The show, to be held at the Lyric Theatre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, will explore travel barriers that have been broken. An essay competition has been launched ahead of the January 5 event.

A hotel chef claims he suffers from a fear of going near Joe Bananas after being knocked unconscious by a rugby star at the Wan Chai bar.

Carl Duggan, 25, has launched a damages action against Hong Kong international Isi Tu'ivai, arguing that his inability to visit the Luard Road pub has damaged his social life.

PEDESTRIANS have been warned to watch for a man who has used a sharp weapon to cut the faces of two women in Wan Chai in the past four days. Both attacks happened outside the refuse collection area at the junction of Luard and Johnston roads.

TWO men were arrested for streaking in Wan Chai early yesterday. Police said the men, both aged 21, were detained at the junction of Luard and Lockhart roads at 1.30 am. They were released with a warning.
