The Consumer Council found huge variations in management fees with the MPF fund expense ratio (FER) - fees and charges as a percentage of the total fund size - ranging from 0.17 per cent to 4.62 per cent.

Regulator to seek new ways to cut MPF fees

The city's pension fund regulator will make suggestions, including the wider use of online services and simplifying procedures, to cut the management fees of Mandatory Provident Fund accounts.

The recommendations will be listed in a consultation document to be released by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority in the fourth quarter of this year.

We paid late fees, says Link Management

The Link Management said it has paid off HK$10 million in management fees for July and August it owes the Housing Authority. The company, which owns 180 shopping centres and car parks on public housing estates, said in a letter to the Legislative Council that its failure to make the payment occurred because of delayed administrative procedures.

The mainland will slash management and handling fees on 22 items from next year to aid enterprises, the People's Daily said yesterday. The State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance jointly announced that cuts of an average of 35 per cent on the first batch of 22 items would start from January 1.

A FUND management service for investors with a minimum of US$250,000 has been launched by Mercury Asset Management, the group with more than $100 billion under management.

The Offshore Managed Fund Service will aim to have fund performance in the top half of a chosen sector continuously.

If Mercury's own performance is lagging, then it will use third-party funds.
