The art of mime

One story ... no words

There are lots of ways of telling a story. We can use the spoken, written or printed word. We can also use still or moving pictures or music. Mime is a way of acting out a story through body movement, without the use of speech. A mime artist is someone who tells a story through gestures and facial expressions.

Marceau speaks volumes with silence

Meeting Marcel Marceau - arguably the world's greatest mime - was an ordinary affair. Without his trademark white mask, the French artist looked every inch an overseas tourist with, literally, his travel trolley in tow. Had he tap danced and done somersaults in the middle of Causeway Bay no one would have batted an eyelid.

Opportunity silently passes by stadium

HOW on earth did the beleaguered Hong Kong Stadium - desperate to put on anything that is decibelly possible just to hear the sound of the turnstiles creaking again - let this one slip through its grasp? For looking through a listing of Urban Council events, we noticed that Marcel Marceau, the eminent French mime artist, is performing tomorrow at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall.
