Call to keep Coral Sea's sharks off dinner tables

The largest marine reserve in the world should be created in the Coral Sea off the coast of Australia to protect the area from illegal shark fishing for Asian markets, a conservation organisation said yesterday.

Artists go on-line in bid to net reef funds

The country's top artists are joining forces in cyberspace in an on-line auction to raise funds for research into the Great Barrier Reef.

They include 1996 Archibald Prize-winner Wendy Sharpe, Ken Done, Judy Cassab, Davide Allen, Marianne Garriok, Brett Leigh Dicks, Rosie Tainish and several others.

Still thriving

I REFER to the letter from Susan Pang regarding Hong Kong's coral (South China Morning Post, December 17). Ms Pang's comment was very fair with regard to the harbour, however how far is the 'very far' she says one has to go out of Hong Kong to see coral?
