Watchdog widens scope for complaint

Hong Kong's Ombudsman could be in line for a much bigger caseload after redefining who is eligible to make complaints.

The Office of the Ombudsman says it will adopt a more liberal interpretation of an 'aggrieved person', allowing it to accept complaints lodged by people who are not directly affected by maladministration.

School rules are there as guidelines for a reason, whether you like it or not. And they are meant to be obeyed. Students are told: 'The rule is to protect students from injuries', or 'The rule is in the interest of the majority of the school students'. The list of justifications can go on and on.

Maldives. I would have to say, at times I imagine myself relaxing on the beach, a softly whispering breeze passing by, the sun shining on my back, digging my feet into the sand. But after a minute or so, I come back to reality, open my eyes and see a textbook in front of me. Sigh, I wish I were there right now.

Maryknoll school celebrates listing of its historic campus

Kowloon Tong's Maryknoll Convent School building will join the government's list of declared monuments.

Development Secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced yesterday that the Antiquities Advisory Board supported the school's initiative that the historic campus should be declared a monument.

Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College

This year, Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College held its school outing at Butterfly Beach.

Everyone met at the school first before taking a bus to the beach, where students enjoyed a barbeque with teachers.

Students to serve as NZ envoys

A dozen secondary students were yesterday picked as juvenile ambassadors to New Zealand.

Form Seven student Elisa Chan Wing-yu from Maryknoll Convent School and Form Five student Winnie Lee Wing-yee from St Paul's Secondary School will each lead a team of five on an 'eco-tour' of New Zealand.
