Lewis Hamilton revived his bid for this year's Formula One world title yesterday when he swept to a dominant triumph for McLaren and recorded his first win in the Italian Grand Prix.

The 27-year-old Briton started from pole position and led throughout, apart from a brief spell during the mid-race pit-stops, to claim his third win this year and the 20th of his career.

Button and Hamilton give seal of approval

McLaren drivers and Formula One world champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton test drove the new car in Britain earlier this year. They provided valuable input on some of the Formula One inspired features, such as launch control, the Brake-Steer system and the electronic stability control programmes.

My mother always used to tell me that it wasn't my being naughty that made her cross, more the fact I had lied to her about it. It must be the way the FIA is feeling about McLaren at the moment. It's not the naughty step that is beckoning for the British team though; it's something much worse.
