Rare books at precious prices

A lavish catalogue of more than HK$50 million worth of rare books and maps goes to the printers this week as major dealers around the world prepare for the first Hong Kong International Antiquarian Bookfair.

The 120-page catalogue features writers from the 16th century to today, with a particular focus on China.

Peninsula's little helpers

If you happen to stroll into the lobby of The Peninsula hotel this week and come across this scene, there is no need to be alarmed.

No, you've not wandered into a scene from Wizard of Oz: Revenge of the Munchkins. It will simply be part of the rehearsals for the hotel's 75th anniversary charity gala next Thursday.
