Bad design led to theme park deaths

Six people died at a Shenzhen amusement park in June because of a bad design that led to a broken bolt, the official investigation has found.

Ruling on bus wheel bearings

BEARINGS on buses will have to be changed every two years, following a series of incidents in which wheels have fallen off, legislators were told yesterday.

The requirement has been imposed by the Transport Department after five cases of bus wheels falling off or becoming loose between August and December.

Fatigue cited

METAL fatigue was partly to blame for the collapse of a single-post basketball stand at Wo Hing playground, Fanling, on July 29, injuring a schoolboy, according to an interim report into the accident by the City Polytechnic.
