Unicef charity run raises over HK$9 million for expectant mothers

Charity was the big winner at the Unicef Half Marathon and 10km race yesterday with more than HK$9 million raised to buy Aids testing equipment for mothers-to-be in the developing world.

Fishwick, Lowry make victorious start to new year

Colin Fishwick and Michelle Lowry celebrated the start of the new year with victories in the Mizuno Hong Kong Half Marathon championship at Tai Mei Tuk yesterday.

Although the weather was close to ideal for the 21.1km race, times were generally on the slow side for the 2,300 starters. However, the two Americans emerged comfortable winners in their respective gender categories.

Kiprotich, Lowry blitz field in 10K

Course records were set in both the men's and the women's races in the New Balance 10K at Tsuen Wan yesterday.

Thomas Kiprotich led home the 2,200-strong field in a swift 31 minutes and 58 seconds, while Michelle Lowry decimated the women's field to win in her second consecutive 10km race in 37:03.
