Monica Lewinsky

None too mighty for the zipper problem

Power has been called an aphrodisiac. That may be why many powerful men around the world have been caught with their pants down lately.

LEWINSKY'S FATHER MARKS CASH PLEA 'RETURN TO SENDER'

A letter seeking contributions was sent by President Clinton's legal defence fund to the father of Monica Lewinsky, whose affair with the President led to his impeachment.

Monica Lewinsky

We had all been thinking, hoping, that there was nothing more to know about Monica Lewinsky but E! apparently has dug up some extra detail about the poor woman in Monica Lewinsky: The Untold Story (Pearl, 8.30pm). E! seems to think Ms Lewinsky (above) has remained 'an enigma' even to those right in the thick of the whole distasteful mess. An enigma to whom?

A dirty job that must be done

Rightly, we talk about the importance of the rule of law in Hong Kong. So far, despite some jitters about cross-border cases, we have not had cause for concern. But to see what the rule of law really means, cast an eye on Washington this week.

This is the trial which hardly anybody wants but which has become unavoidable.

Prankster scores Star Sports own goal

We've heard of being responsive to your customers, but someone at ESPN Star Sports seems to have been taking responsiveness to a whole new level.

Officials are investigating a book, sold under the title The Sex Report of Clinton, which is available at stalls in Taojinlu for 20 yuan (HK$18), according to Guangzhou media reports.

America has succeeded in humiliating itself

Public disclosure of sexual weaknesses is the worst shame a man can suffer. Does Bill Clinton really deserve this? Palace scandals have always been a way of life with rulers from the times of the kings and nobles to presidents and prime ministers.

Though a bit unimpressive in the beginning, Mr Clinton has been acquitting himself quite credibly to his country and the world.

Stop the puritanical hypocrisy

What amazes me about this farce is the puritanical hypocrisy involved. So Mr Clinton had an inappropriate relationship with Monica Lewinsky. So what? He has done nothing worse than men have been doing since time immemorial. And if every politician who lied was thrown out, there would be no one left.
