An Olympic-qualified sport that encourages a healthy lifestyle, showcases Hong Kong's country parks, and appeals to both expatriate and local athletes ought to be heavily promoted. Yet, the government, despite its professed slogans of promoting health and sport, has all but ignored mountain biking.

Balancing act for daredevils

The fourth race of this year's Hong Kong Cycling Association mountain-bike series will be held in Tai Lam Country Park on Sunday. The annual series alternates between cross-country and downhill events. This weekend it's the turn of the daredevil downhill riders. Downhill is all about balance, says race contender Julien Lallemand.

Bikers a menace on country park trails

I read with amusement the letter from 'Name And Address Supplied' headlined, 'Cyclists just wanting fair treatment', (South China Morning Post, November 21), asking why mountain bikers are restricted to only a few trails in the country parks.
