MTV to hit India

MTV Asia is launching MTV India. At the same time, MTV Mandarin will be moved to Taipei from its Singapore base, which will remain the regional headquarters.

MTV Asia's Taiwan operation has added three new shows and six presenters to its Mandarin service as part of localisation efforts. The station has also designed new channel identities and on-air promotions.

Levi Strauss signs sponsor deal with MTV channels

LEVI Strauss Far East has signed a deal to be the exclusive regional sponsor of the 'MTV Alternative Nation' programme on both MTV Asia and MTV Mandarin.

The deal includes advertising spots, on-air promotions and joint marketing and promotional activities throughout the region. Financial details were not disclosed.

Indian MTV

MTV will launch its India service tomorrow with a series of travelling parties featuring international and Indian stars beginning in Bangalore. The programming will be a mix of local and international MTV productions. The 24-hour service will bring to an end the six-hour daily block of MTV programming on Doordarshan's DD2 Metro channel in February.
