Chopin Society chairman Andrew Freris knows what makes the third Hong Kong International Piano Competition stand out on an international stage among countless top-ranking contests.

'Although this is the third time the competition is being run, it is definitely not 'just one more competition' among the scores, if not hundreds, across the world,' he explains.

Students score a string of successes in competition

THREE junior music students of the Academy for Performing Arts (APA) competed in the Kocian International Violin Competition held in the Czech Republic this May and won top prizes in different categories.

Gallant Ho, a Form Three student, won third prize for his violin playing in the 14-16 age category.
