A lacklustre old-new take

Casting Kristen Stewart as the 'fairest of them all' would make sense in many contexts. Unless, that is - and pardon my crassness - you cast the perennially stunning Charlize Theron as the beauty-obsessed evil queen with a magic mirror.

Hard-knocks shine on stage

Good things often come in small packages. And for teen actress Katie Howard, it's her small stature that allowed her to land the dream role of Annie.

Rocky Horror Show

If you like getting dressed up for Halloween, the Rocky Horror Show gives you the perfect excuse this year. The comedy rock show is as much about audience participation as it is the stage performance, and this year local actors will be camping it up to singalong classics such as the Time Warp and Toucha Touch Toucha Touch Me at the Arts Centre's Shouson Theatre.

Chinese sing-song girls transformed into a giant portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt is just one of the many indelible images in this supreme example of Depression-era screen extravaganza.
