Muster

Forty-year land rights campaign backfires on Aboriginals

Lying on the fringes of the forbidding Tanami Desert, Wave Hill cattle station's 13,000 sqkm of baked rock, parched scrub and savannah grassland support 50,000 head of Brahman.

Muster to make his Mark

ONE of racing's great maxims is 'horses for courses' and those who handle the dirt are habitually worth following on the tricky surface. Trainer Bruce Hutchison's team is in good form these days and the popular Western Australian mentor could well end the season with between 15 to 20 winners the way things are going for him.

Muster set to make his mark

IRISH stayer Muster Mark put in a pleasing run for fifth in the race won by Golden Heart yesterday and that must have been encouraging for trainer Bruce Hutchison. Muster Mark, who holds a Happy Valley equitrack record, has had tendon problems and has been brought carefully back by his Australian handler.

Christmas cheer for Hutchison

IT doesn't take a university degree to work out that Irish import Muster Mark has the form on the board required to win the feature race at Happy Valley's special pre-Christmas meeting tonight.

The Hong Kong University Alumni Association Challenge Cup is the silverware on offer for what could turn into an entertaining contest for Class Three horses over 1,800 metres.

Long March set to give run for money

LONG MARCH (Next Best) looks one of the best value bets of the night in the Hong Kong University Alumni Association Challenge Cup, the feature event on the Happy Valley grass programme.

Long March caught the eye last season when staying on strongly to be fourth to Lionheart over an inadequate 1,400 metres at Sha Tin, despite racing very wide all the way from a poor draw.

Gay Pegasus can fly in

I WILL be cheering Gay Pegasus II every step of the way in the last at Sha Tin this afternoon where it would be great to see another win for the gelding, owned by Dr Douglas Laing - the grand old man of Hong Kong racing.
