65 Chinese fishermen set free by Russia

Russia yesterday released nearly all the Chinese fishermen it detained late last month, with the exception of four captains, according to China News Service.

A rare diplomatic dispute between China and Russia, in which dozens of Chinese fishermen were arrested in Russian waters, has deteriorated after Moscow decided to press criminal charges against the captains of two Chinese trawlers seized a week ago.

Nakhodka to open office

RUSSIA'S Nakhodka Free Economic Zone administrative committee will establish a representative office in Hong Kong to cover the territory, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Committee chairman Igor Ustinov, departing after a week's visit, said he had been impressed by regional interest in Nakhodka, near Vladivostok.
