THE number of high court writs filed by Hong Kong's leading real estate companies has multiplied in the past few months as they struggle under the weight of bad debts.

Realtors filed about 100 high court writs last month and the first two weeks of this month, compared with just 12 writs for April and May last year.

Firms with their own professional codes believe the guidelines help them earn the trust of clients.

Jones Lang Wootton said its code of conduct was more strict than current legislation in any of the countries in which it operated.
