'Dramatic pauses' help secure win

SKH Chan Young Secondary School beat Ning Po College to be crowned Division Three champions in the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition on Tuesday.

The event, held in the auditorium of Mariners' Club in Tsim Sha Tsui, was packed with supporters from the two schools and students and teachers who want to learn more about debating.

Points of view on the local poverty issue

In the sixth round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition, TWGHs Kap Yan Directors' College eliminated Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School to earn a spot in the semi-finals. The schools met on December 7 to debate the motion: 'Hong Kong is not doing enough to take care of its poor.' Kap Yan were the affirmative side, with Hoi Ping taking the negative stance.

Evenly matched in equal rights contest

Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School and Cheung Chuk Shan College met in the fifth round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Inter-school Debating Competition last week. They tackled the motion 'Hong Kong isn't doing enough to ensure gender equality'. Hoi Ping was the affirmative side and Cheung Chuk Shan took the negative stance.

Delia deliver the goods

In the third round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition, SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School went up against Delia School of Canada, Taikoo Shing, to debate the motion 'public, performing-animal shows are beneficial'.

The debate took place last Tuesday at SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School. Delia were against the motion while Tang Shiu Kin were in favour of it.
