Hospital Authority proposals aim to boost morale and retain nurses

The Hospital Authority wants to introduce a series of measures to boost morale and retain nurses in response to a record number leaving the profession in recent years.

Last year a record 4.13 per cent out of the 20,000 nurses working with the authority quit the profession, compared with 2.99 per cent the previous year.

Nursing course withdrawn

A private college in Brisbane offering nursing courses to foreign and Australian students has had its accreditation to teach the course withdrawn.

Students who had each outlaid more than A$5,000 (HK$35,000) as a down payment for the course learned last month they would have to transfer to another college and study as external students.
