A man who fled empty-handed from a raid on the Standard Chartered Bank in Shau Kei Wan Main Street apparently staged another raid, on the First Pacific Bank in Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, 3.5 hours later - this time getting away with $5,000.

Bus seats so uncomfortable

I OFTEN use Citybus's route No 85 service from Shau Kei Wan to Siu Sai Wan Estate, but I find it unsatisfactory between Mondays and Saturdays, because of the type of bus used.

The buses used are second-hand Leyland Atlantean AN68s, which I don't like.

The seats are supposed to accommodate two people, but they are not wide enough and they are very short.

An examination of the operating records of Route 8 over a recent period indicates that there is generally no problem with the reliability of this service and that operation is in accordance with the approved Schedules of Service.

CMB bus drivers entitled to rest period

I REFER to the letter from J. Lee of Pokfulam (South China Morning Post, April 20), which concerned two bus routes arriving at a bus-stop in Wan Chai at the same time. Whilst both routes 40 and 504 run between Wan Chai Ferry and Wah Fu, they serve substantially different areas in between and hence, have different journey times.
