The real message from Occupy Central does not come from the protest group but from the way the rest of us have tolerated its antics. The remnants of the unruly, self-styled anti-capitalist gathering are facing eviction.

Security guards began making notes on the furniture at the Occupy Central site beneath HSBC headquarters yesterday afternoon, a hint that an attempt to evict the handful of protesters still defying a court order to leave could come soon.

HSBC started to clear up the Occupy Central protest camp under its headquarters yesterday as a handful of protesters defied a court deadline for them to leave.

It was supposed to be the end of the party, but the music played on.

As the 9pm deadline to move out approached, "Occupy Central" activists turned up the volume and sang and danced in defiance of the court order telling them to vacate the open space under the HSBC headquarters.
