Hi-tech vessel boosts push in deep seas

A hi-tech oceanic research vessel was launched in Wuhan, heralding a push into deep-sea areas of the world's oceans.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the completion of the 100-metre-long Ke Xue (Science) on its website yesterday.

Alliance unveils plan for Pacific services

THE four-line Global Alliance has revealed details of its planned Far East-North America services, which will begin in the middle of this year.

The alliance includes Neptune Orient Line, Nippon Yushen Kaisha, Hapag-Lloyd and P&O Containers.

The group will operate four fixed-day, weekly sailings in the Pacific.
