All tuned up for grand Asia tour

After weeks of intensive preparation, the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) is ready for its big outing: a marathon 24-day concert tour of 10 Asian countries, including the mainland and Japan.

The AYO's 103 young musicians consider the tour both a challenge and an honour, and they feel they have earned their place in the orchestra.

Maestro of opportunity

The statistics are impressive. Since its first performance in 1990, the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) has given 227 concerts in 147 cities, reaching more than a million listeners - figures that will grow further when the orchestra's 2007 concert tour opens at the Cultural Centre on August 8.
