Montblanc rolls out anA-list cast in Beijing

Luxury-goods producer Montblanc flew four Hollywood A-listers - Nicolas Cage, Naomi Watts, Jessica Alba and Amber Heard - to Beijing for the launch of its Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco and the opening of its concept store in the hip Sanlitun area.

ROOMS WITH A VIEW

The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Bangkok will become the latest super-luxury project to grace the Thai capital. Due to be completed in 2014, the 197 apartments feature Sky Boxes with sweeping views of the city. They will be housed in the 77-storey MahaNakhon, Bangkok's tallest development. The tower is designed by architect Ole Scheeren of OMA and marketed in Hong Kong by CBRE.

Developer of Tai O project eyes Hollywood Rd married quarters

A young developer behind the revitalisation of the old Tai O Police Station into a boutique hotel is eyeing another project - the married police quarters on Hollywood Road.

Sino Land executive director Daryl Ng Win-kong said yesterday he was preparing a proposal for the project under a foundation that he set up in 2008.

'I'm based in Beijing, but half my time is spent on the road in Asia or visiting Rotterdam, London and New York. I've set up an office from where I'm managing all our Asia projects, but I'm still involved in projects in other parts of the world.

It's incredibly hard to establish any routine in my life. To a certain extent I've always resisted the idea.

Empire building

OLE SCHEEREN, the architect designing one of the world's biggest buildings for the Chinese state broadcaster CCTV complex in central Beijing, no longer believes in conventional skyscrapers. 'If you look at skyscrapers - the needle has no real identity, it marks a place but it doesn't create space in any real sense,' says Scheeren.
